Did anyone else notice that it is going to be in the 50’s this weekend? I think it’s time to pull out the grill, grab the sunscreen and prepare for summer! OK. I’m sure you’ve noticed all the pink and red decorations at the store- Valentine’s Day is almost here! I am one of those people that would be more than happy to receive a box of assorted chocolates (but only end up eating the caramel-filled ones), however, in an attempt to watch my waistline I’ve come up with a different plan for this holiday. Has anyone ever told you before that a calorie log/food journal is a good idea? Well, I’m here to tell you AGAIN THAT IT IS! In 2008, a study conducted with 1,700 participants showed that people who log or track calories were the bigger weight losers. According to Jack Hollis Ph.D., a researcher at Kaiser Permanente "Those who kept daily food records lost twice as much weight as those who kept no records. It seems that the simple act of writing down what you eat encourages people to consume fewer calories." more...
