Summertime Stress Relievers

by Sarah

Summertime! One of my favorite times of year. I love the change of the season and thoroughly enjoy the extra sunshine and Vitamin D. Summer is also the time for many gatherings – graduation parties, class or family reunions, weddings…you name it, we celebrate it. Along with our busy summers, it’s important to keep our stress levels at bay and take some quality time out for ourselves.

What are some of my top five summertime stress relievers you ask!

  • Kayaking! Last year I finally received my long awaited birthday gift from my hubby below – a kayak! (My rabbit Freckles wanted to get in the picture too). I love getting out on the water early in the morning when the water is like glass. It is so peaceful, calming, and a great way to start out the day. The other picture below is when Coach Joanna, her dog Molly, and myself went kayaking last summer. So fun!

  • Yard work. Not only do I feel accomplished when I get the yard cleaned up, but I also get a good workout!
  • Volleyball. After playing all winter long in a gym or sand dome, it’s time to get outside and enjoy one of my favorite hobbies.
  • Being a spectator. My husband and I love to go to sports games whether it is a professional game, or a cousin’s little league game. We get the best of both worlds – sports and social time.
  • Staying cool indoors. Don’t get me wrong, I love outdoor hobbies too, but I also like being inside on those SUPER warm days. Sometimes I just can’t take the heat! Watching some reality TV or doing a little reading hits the spot. I can even do some exercises during the commercial breaks.
