Spring Clean Your Habits

by Megan

Open the windows, or at least the blinds and let the sun in. Embrace the longer daylight hours, jump in a puddle of water- instead of snow- yes spring has made it’s way to Wisconsin! I could not be happier, it’s nice to be able to go outside without needing long underwear and a face mask. Many people use this time of year to do some spring cleaning on their homes or cars so why not look at some of your habits and try some spring cleaning?

Are there some habits you’d like to “throw out”? Perhaps snacking after dinner, immediately sitting on the couch after dinner and staying there until bed, or deciding to skip meal planning for the week and relying on fast food or takeout most nights. Are you feeling lethargic, unmotivated, and just blah overall? Why not use this season to get rid of what isn’t serving you?

Likewise, what are some habits you’d like to welcome into your life this time of year? Start up your walking routine again? Or perhaps you’ve been wanting to add meditation to your day since New Year’s but just haven’t gotten around to it. Well, now would be a great time to start! Personally, my spring cleaning is going to consist of cutting out evening snacks, because I’m not hungry, it’s just become habit, and making the time to plan weekly dinners because I’ve been slacking. You can only make grilled cheese and tomato soup so many times! This upcoming week’s meals are:

Monday: Vegetable Lasagna (prepped on Saturday or Sunday)

Tuesday: Leftovers

Wednesday: Breakfast for dinner in the form of a spinach and feta omelet, hash browns, yogurt with blueberries if our son won’t eat the omelet

Thursday: Crock Pot Beef and Broccoli, serve with brown rice on the side

Friday: Thin crust pizza from Papa Murphy’s, because Friday is pizza night!

What are your plans for spring cleaning?
