On-The-Go Workouts For Holiday Travelers

by Megan

The holiday season is a busy time for many people and I often hear that they don't have time to do much--sleep, relax, cook or exercise.

Now I can't help you get more sleep, but I can help you fit in that last one--exercise--to ensure you take care of yourself during what can be a stressful time of year. Below are several workouts for you to choose from, whether you have 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or more!

Quick 15
Warm up by doing some light movement or walking in place for 5 minutes. Or, if you have some music on, just dance around for a song!

  • Squat
  • Pushup (on knees or toes)
  • Forearm plank-30 seconds
  • Jumping jacks-30 seconds
  • Reverse lunge, right leg then left
  • Tricep dips (on chair or couch)
  • Shoulder tap (on knees or toes)
  • Jumping jacks-30 seconds
  • Glute bridge
  • Bird-dog
  • Crunch

Outdoor Out and Back-20 minutes

I strongly feel that when it comes to outdoor play in the winter, it's never a question of temperature (well, maybe skip if it's -10 degrees out) but rather a question of how many layers of clothing you have on. If I have the proper clothes, I'm comfortable in most Wisconsin winter weather. IF this is also you, put your gear on and head outside. Walk or run for 10 minutes, then turn around and head back. This is also great if you need to just be by yourself for a few minutes. We all know how full some houses get during the holidays.

30 Minute HIIT

Fitness Blender has several great half hour workout videos you can do in your house (or a relative's house) in which you only need your phone and Wi-Fi.

So there you go, several options to stay healthy and active over the holidays, no matter your time or location!
