Cleaning Checklists!

by Megan

I just recently moved into a house (from an apartment) with two other people. Now, I have never been the cleanest person but I got used to having only my own mess at my apartment. With two more people – and a dog- there is a lot more mess that I usually come home to! To help myself stay on the ball with cleaning and organization I turn to “to-do” lists, I just like the feeling of crossing something off when it get it done. But I’m also realistic, I know my cleanliness expectations don’t exactly measure up to Martha Stewart’s but I can always hope. Her recommendation for daily cleaning involves just 6 tasks:

  • Make the bed
  • Manage clutter
  • Sort the mail
  • Clean as you cook
  • Wipe up spills while they’re fresh
  • Sweep the kitchen floor

Even a home owning rookie like myself thinks these are completely manageable. I figure the more small things I do daily will leave less to do on the weekend (even though I’m sure I’ll find something else that needs cleaning then…).

You can print checklists from the Martha Stewart website. Below are more sites to check out:

Real Simple
Livingwellspendingless
Organizedhome

There you have it, tons of lists to help you stay on track with your house cleaning…until you lose those checklists under a pile of junk mail like I’m sure I will.
