Nearly a year ago, I posted about financial wellness and my families plan for becoming more financially secure. Today, I wanted to share a quick update on our progress and talk more about the importance of budgeting! My post last year was all about the Dave Ramsey Baby Steps. I am happy to report that not only are we sticking to our goals and working on the Baby Steps, but we are killing it. A lot of life has happened in the last ten months that could have completely derailed our plans financially, but we stuck to our goals and trusted the process, and wouldn’t you know it, by sticking to our plan, we are actually ahead of schedule on reaching our goals! more...

Audiobooks can be a convenient (and free) way to keep your mind engaged as you go through your daily routine or workout. For some, the holidays can be a joyful yet stressful time. There's cooking, cleaning, shopping, parties, family and EXPECTATIONS. Oh, the expectations! Everything HAS to be perfect: the decorations, the food, the gifts, the attire, the picture, lest we become victims to the judge-y individuals. Do you know what I say? Who cares what they think! The holidays are supposed to be a great time spent with family and friends, giving to others, and remembering the "reason for the season". I don’t know if it’s my posture lately, the shoes I wear at work, or how I carry my kids but my back has been giving me grief for the past few weeks. I was able to go to a yoga class three weeks ago and I walked out of there feeling wonderful. I’m not able to get to classes as often as I’d like so I have been rotating between the following videos in the evenings on my own. more...

Let’s paint a scenario of a typical day for some people. For the purposes of this scenario the character’s name is Zach. During the week, Zach’s alarm goes off around 6:00 am. He hits the snooze button twice, eventually rolls out of bed and starts getting ready. There always seems to be something that delays his process; his wife needs the bathroom longer, the dog makes a mess, his mom calls, his kid spills cereal all over the floor, insert your typical morning issue here. By the time he’s ready, he only has five minutes to spare before he has to leave. He doesn’t have anything quick to grab for breakfast, so he decides to stop at a coffee shop and grab a muffin and a coffee to go. more...
