The other morning I got up to run outside and the weather was perfect; mid-twenties and clear, no problem (or so I thought!). Three fourths of the way through my run though, a few snowflakes started to come down. Not even three minutes later I was in a winter wonderland! While this doesn’t usually bother me (in fact, I find it really quite beautiful that early when it’s just you and the snow) but I found those snowflakes to be quite irritating. It’s like they had a mind of their own and were trying to fly right into my eyes! Trying to look ahead meant only one eye open at a time. What I could have used right then were these sweet glasses from a Saved by the Bell episode:.

This Sunday is Oscar Sunday! The show that celebrates the best in film for the past year and Billy Crystal is back hosting for his 9th time! I didn’t get around to seeing all the nominated films but I want to still watch some of the show. For those of you that have Oscars’ parties, your snacks don't all have to be high in calories. Here are a few healthier recipes that were inspired by the nominations for Best Picture. And (some of) the nominees are….

Awhile back I wrote about all the wonderful benefits of Vitamin D and now that we’re in the stretch between the holiday season and spring, I thought it might be a good time for a refresher. The mighty D helps us absorb calcium, grow and maintain bone in our bodies. While only a few minutes in the sun can fulfill you’re daily requirement, this time of year makes it nearly impossible to see the sun even that much. You leave for work in the dark and you return home in the dark- you just can’t win! Luckily, one of my favorite foods – salmon - can help you get Vitamin D in your diet. Here is a recipe I just tried the other night from All Recipes.com..

The other night I got down on my floor and tried to crank out a few push ups. Umm, mission not accomplished. I could barely do five. What has happened to me? I used to do push ups all the time just a few years ago! Well, I’m not accepting defeat; I’m going to increase the number of push ups by 20 before summer. No reason, just a personal challenge..

LOVE is in the air. Once again it’s Valentine’s Day! I often over do it on holidays and let’s face it, it’s a good excuse to. Whether you treat yourself or your sweetie to a fancy restaurant or a heart-shaped box of candy, these treats can pack on additional calories fast. I have been trying to stay on track and eat better, so how can we celebrate the holiday with healthy options?.

As you may have read from a previous post, I idolize Giada De Laurentiis - she's usually seen on the Food network. She makes cooking look so easy and fun! I was recently searching for a new recipe to try out to continue with my new year’s resolution, when I came across this great recipe from Giada. It’s low in calories and quick to make. This Roman Chicken recipe sounds wonderful and I can’t wait to try it..

Are you bored of the same old workout? Need an idea of a new way to get into shape? Well, the answer is weighted hula hoops. Yes, that’s right, hula hoops! I remember when I was younger, my friends and I would have contests to see who could keep the hoop twirling the longest. We would place the hoop around our neck, arm, leg or waist. This can equal a full body workout. You wouldn’t consider this to be exercise because it’s a lot of fun, but think of how many calories you could burn in just 10 minutes!.

Are you a soda drinker? I am and I have to have my Diet Coke throughout the day to keep me going! I know it isn’t the healthiest option for me even though its diet. So, I started looking for a substitute that would eliminate those extra calories in my day. The American Beverage Association (ABA) estimates that each person in the United States consumes 600 12-ounce servings of soda each year. That means we consume more soda than any other country!.
